Writing Guide

Article Submission Guidelines:

Esteemed professors, researchers, and authors are invited to consider the following points when submitting articles.

The Journal of Research in Sport Medicine and Technology will publish articles that present the results of basic and applied research in sports biomechanics, corrective exercises, sports pathology, and sports physiology. Acceptable article types include: Basic Research, Applied Research, Analytical Review, and Critique & Evaluation, provided they have been prepared with the author’s thorough insight into the subject and with reference to an acceptable number of sources.

Please prepare and submit your article in accordance with the provided style guide. Articles received through the journal’s website will be checked for compliance with the style guide prior to being sent for peer review; those that do not comply will not be sent for review.

The article must be written in fluent Persian while observing grammatical rules. The use of foreign terms that have Persian equivalents should be avoided as much as possible. Where a Persian substitute term is not in common usage, the term should be written in Persian letters, with the Latin equivalents of foreign names and terms provided in footnotes. Abbreviations and acronyms whose standard forms are available should be presented in full at their first mention.

The submitted article must: (a) be original; (b) must not have been submitted to another journal for publication or have been previously published; and © must not be a translation of other articles. The author(s) bear full responsibility for the content of the article. The article should be submitted to the journal office through the journal’s submission system: https://jsmt.khu.ac.ir.

Important note: Changing the names of authors or adding new names to accepted articles is not possible under any circumstances.

How to Prepare and Submit an Article to the Journal of Research in Sport Medicine and Technology

Article preparation is categorized into two parts: content and format.

Content Requirements:

  • The article must be written in fluent, clear Persian.
  • The first page must include the article title, first and last names, academic degree (position and academic rank), institutional address, email address, and ORCID ID of the author(s), as well as the telephone and mobile numbers of the corresponding author (the individual responsible for subsequent correspondence).
  • The order of the article components is as follows: English title, English abstract (250 words), English keywords, 1500-word English extended abstract, Persian title, Persian abstract (250 words), Persian keywords, Introduction, Methodology, Findings, Discussion and Conclusion, References.
  • The article title must be concise and fluent, with a maximum of 15 words.
  • The Persian and English abstracts should summarize the article and include the introduction, study objective, methods, results, discussion, and final conclusion (in a structured format). The English abstract and keywords must be translations of their Persian counterparts. The abstract must not exceed 250 words, in which the introduction, objective, methods, findings, and conclusion are clearly specified. Keywords must be based on MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). At least 3 to 5 keywords used in the article must be presented under “Keywords” at the end of both the Persian and English abstract sections.
  • The Introduction must include the statement of the problem and the purpose of the research, along with a review of previous studies.
  • The Methodology must include a detailed description of the research design, statistical population and sample, measurement instruments, measurement procedures, and the statistical methods employed, in a manner that allows analysis and replication by others. It must also contain subheadings.
  • The Findings section presents the complete results of the research, shown in the form of tables and/or figures, with explanations of the most important parts of the findings. When tables, figures, and charts are presented, table titles should be placed above them (as captions) and figure and chart captions should be placed below them.
  • The Discussion and Conclusion must include a description of the key points of the article’s findings and their comparison with other studies, justification and interpretation of points of agreement and disagreement, the potential applications of the findings, the research limitations, research recommendations based on these limitations, and the final conclusion.
  • References used in preparing the article must be cited within the text in parentheses, using the sequential numbers in the order they appear in the text.
  • References must be formatted in accordance with the Vancouver citation style and compiled using EndNote software.

Article Formatting Requirements

  • The article must be typed in Microsoft Word on A4-size paper, in a single-column format, with 3-cm margins on the right and left sides and 3-cm margins at the top and bottom. Line spacing throughout the text must be single. The spacing between lines and paragraphs must also be single.
  • The main article title must be centered and written in 16-point B Titr font. The author’s or authors’ names must be centered and written in 12-point B Lotus font. The name of the university, institution, or workplace must be centered and written in 11-point B Lotus font. Section headings, including Introduction, Methodology, and so on, must be right-aligned and written in 13-point B Titr font. Subheadings must be right-aligned and written in 11-point B Titr font. The abstract must be written in 13-point B Lotus font. Keywords below the abstract must be written in 13-point B Lotus font. The main body of the article, including the Discussion and Conclusion, Acknowledgments, and other sections, must be written in 13-point B Lotus font. Table titles and figure and chart captions must be centered and written in 11-point B Lotus font. Text inside tables, figures, and charts must be written in 10-point B Lotus font. Numbers inside tables must be presented in Persian numerals. Persian references must be written in 11-point B Lotus font, while English references must be written in 11-point Arial font.
  • English Abstract: The article title must be written in 13-point Arial font, the authors’ names in 11-point Arial font, and the abstract in 13-point Arial font.
  • The article must not exceed 12 pages.
  • The manuscript must be submitted to the journal’s website as a single file containing the article, author information, tables, charts, and figures.

All articles will be reviewed and evaluated by referees. Following the referees’ final comments and confirmation of the article’s scientific and research quality, the article will be scheduled for publication.

Important Notes

  • Avoid using footnotes for Latin names. Only specialized words and technical terms may be included in footnotes.
  • Do not insert tables and charts in image format.
  • Page numbers must be centered at the bottom of each page and presented in Persian numerals.

Submission of the 1,500-Word English Extended Abstract at the Acceptance Stage

In view of the vision of the publications of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at Kharazmi University, and with the aim of improving the quality and indexing the institute’s journals in reputable international databases, thereby enhancing the journal’s credibility and standing among national and international academic communities and official ranking and accreditation systems, it has been decided that a 1,500-word extended English abstract must be prepared by the author and submitted through the journal’s online system along with the latest revised version of the manuscript.

The extended abstract should emphasize the Materials and Methods and Results sections. If language editing is required, the corresponding author is responsible for submitting the extended English abstract to a translation or language-editing agency. Submission of the extended English abstract through the journal’s online system is mandatory for the issuance of an article acceptance letter.

Guidelines for Preparing the English Extended Abstract

The extended abstract must include the following sections:

  • Article Title
  • Authors’ Names
  • Authors’ Institutional Affiliations
  • Introduction: One paragraph of 100 words
  • Research Challenges and Rationale: One paragraph of 150 words
  • Study Objectives: One paragraph of 50 words(The Introduction, Research Challenges and Rationale, and Objectives sections should total 300 words.)
  • Materials and Methods: 400 words
  • Results: 400 words, accompanied by one table and one chart
  • Conclusion: 250 words
  • Keywords: Six keywords based on MeSH
  • Article Message: 150 words
